Do you fancy doing the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award but never realised you could do it through Guiding? Many members of Senior Section groups are enrolled on the award. You need to be 14 years of age to enrol on Bronze, 15 for Silver, and 16 for Gold. There are four sections, Skills, Volunteering, Physical Activity, and the Expedition. In addition at Gold level there is the Residential Section. If you want to know more about all the different opportunities look on the D of E website http://www.dofe.org/ You may be one of several who want to work on the award as a group – or an individual. Either is fine. If you do not have a group to join for the expedition how about coming on the annual training weekend held every Spring. You will get most sections of the training signed off and may meet others who also need to make up a group. If you are interested talk to your Leader and she will get a registration form. Who knows – you might be on your way to St James Palace one day?
