As a qualified trainer your name and contact details will be added to the Region Trainers’ List which is circulated to counties. Training organisers will contact you to offer opportunities to train in their counties/divisions/districts. There are occasionally opportunities to train in other regions.
Support and Training as a Trainer
You can expect to have support from: • The person in your county who is responsible for training and Trainers • Members of your Trainers’ Support Group – you choose which one you would like to join • Your County/Division/District Commissioner • Training Adviser for Girlguiding North East England
There is an annual Trainers’ Day or Weekend organised by the region and there are also occasional national events that you could attend.
Renewing your Trainer Qualification The Trainer Qualification has to be renewed every three years. The process has changed and is being piloted in the region in 2010. The requirements during the pilot year are: An observation of a training by a member of the region team of observers Action plans/ notes on self-reflection to be submitted after discussion with Support Group An observation by local commissioner of the trainer carrying out her guiding role
Further opportunities:
If you’d like to train at residential events, you’ll need to complete Module 11 of the Trainer Qualification. A tutor will be appointed to support you.
Once you have had some experience as a trainer you might want to consider becoming a tutor and offer support to a Prospective Trainer. Training and support is available for anyone interested in this role. Contact the Region Moderator, the Region Training Adviser or see Tutor section of web site for more details.
