West Yorkshire West - Girlguiding in Halifax and Todmorden

The 'Spirit of Guiding' is the only Guiding narrow boat in the Region

It is based on the Rochdale Canal at Todmorden  and sleeps 12 people with a fully equipped kitchen, 2 toilets, a shower and central heating

It is available to hire for Guide and Senior Section groups

West Yorkshire South - Girlguiding in Wakefield, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Pontefract, Castleford and Holmfirth

Wysholme Holiday and Training Centre,

2 Upper Lane, Emley, nr. Huddersfield, HD8 9RE

 Wysholme is located at the base of the South Pennines in the small village of Emley halfway between Huddersfield and Wakefield.  It is run by Girlguiding West Yorkshire South for its members and members from further afield.

The building has been completely renovated and redecorated during the past 3 years. It is an ideal centre for members of all ages.

Sleeping accommodation for 20 people on the 1st floor

  •             Dormitory for 16 girls on bunk beds

  •             Bedroom with en-suit toilet /shower for 4 leaders on bunk beds

  •             Girl’s Showers and toilet  room

Facilities on the ground floor

  • Kitchen - newly renovated and fully equipped for 30 with large gas hob and electric cooker, fridge & freezer, separate food preparation  and cooking areas

  • Dining Room and separate Lounge area

  • Large Activity Room complete with tables, chairs, notice & white boards

  • Shower and toilet suitable for disabled

  • The Centre is fully central heated

A small outdoor area is adjacent to the Centre which is complimented by playing fields and children’s play area nearby

It must be noted that there is only disabled access to the ground floor facilities

Activities : This centre is ideal for walking in the country side, with great views and easy navigation.  There is a good public bus service to both Huddersfield and Wakefield where shopping, swimming and public parks are available.  Other attractions within easy reach with your own transport are The National Coal Mining Museum, Eureka, Breton Hall Country Park and Art Centre, plus many more.
